Today, there was a shooting at Lackland AFB that left two dead. According to this CNN article:

It was an airman who shot his squadron commander. Given the outcome was two dead, I’m assuming it was a homicide and suicide.
I imagine there will be a lot made of what happened today on both sides of the gun aisle, but I would like to take just a moment and recognize that there are two more dead airmen in the world as of this morning, and grieve that fact. Maybe there were signs that could have been noticed ahead of time, and that’s something to focus on tomorrow too. But as it stands, for some reason or another, this young man was so upset, and cared so little for his life and the lives of others, that he made a horrendous decision.
All we can do from here on in is try to help the families, and do our best to prevent this from happening again, as it unfortunately does so often.
